When I stepped into the Ritz Carlton Residence, I was drawn outward through the floor-to-ceiling windows and into the surrounding views of Portland and the hills it’s nestled within. Those towering views combined with the elegance and sophistication of the residence interior sparked my design inspiration.

The urban tapestry of the historic brick buildings of the Pearl District and Downtown Portland were pulled into the unit by using a palette of saturated brick tones within the furnishings. The movement and liveliness of the city below guided the design toward a more energetic flow to match the city’s personality.

The Pacific Northwest is known for its natural beauty and the nearby Hillside and Portland Heights neighborhoods with their prominent tree lines inspired me to pull an element of the forest into the residence. This can be seen in the use of sumptuous textures and lush greens to bring in a beautiful organic element to the design.

As I pulled from these inspirations, I was careful to allow the luxury and refinement of the residence play its own role in delivering a dwelling that would embody a timeless elegance and discerning sophistication that pays homage to this remarkable city.
