Adding color to your home can be important for a variety of reasons. Pretty in Pink, Black, & Gold Bedroom Design

This bedroom was designed for a sophisticated high school student who wanted to transform her outdated “tween” room into one that is fit for her next phase of life. I had been playing with the idea of mixing a modern soft pink with a bolder black for a while and when this project presented itself I knew I had to implement the design.

Our goal was to create a space that felt grounded in its femininity, yet bold enough to stand strong in its masculinity as well. Think, “real men wear pink.”

The blush wallpaper is the focal point behind the bed. The organic geode pattern is the perfect juxtaposition with the structure of the headboard.

In order to celebrate this homes 1950s history, a touch of mid-century modern style was layered into the room with this fun bench. It fits perfectly below the high window and modern art.

From the gold accents in the art, drapes, and furniture to the black touches throughout, this is a chic and stylish bedroom design.

We decided to update this old TV built in by wallpapering the pack of the shelves which mimics the feature wall behind the bed. This area is not a space for the client’s to curate artwork, sculptures, and other objects to bring the room to life.

These black Kelley Werstler drapes from Kravet fabrics frame the windows around the bedroom.

Bedding makes a room feel special. We decided to take the entire room and represent it through the choice of bedding. Black euro shams contrast with the white headboard with crisp white bedding and pops of blush and gold accent pillows.

ASID Award Winning Home Design

This custom new build is a 5,569 square foot single story ranch-style home. The home features four bedrooms, four bathrooms, expansive kitchen, open-concept living and dining, and numerous spaces for entertaining and utility. The house sits on lakefront property and the architectural layout is oriented to maximize unobstructed panoramic views of the surrounding environment. The views provided by the lake were a key factor in selecting the home’s location and subsequent design. All material specification, furnishings, and accessories were completed by Kevin Twitty Interiors.

Natural light floods this living room featuring an outdoor inspired color palette with layered neutrals, blues, and greens.

Blending traditional Versailles pattern fireplace stone with a reclaimed wood mantle curates a classing and cozy sensibility for this family room.

Natural curved arched Carrara marble backsplash provides a seamless design with no grout lines. The characteristic of marble offers organic movement pleasing to the eye.

A modern metal wall sculpture leading into the game room is an artistic interpretation of the coffered ceiling design.

The pool table in this game room was custom selected to have black felt which matches the carpeting in the media room. The game room takes advantage of the magnificent view and blends modern, classic, and industrial styles. This is the “man cave” of the home.

The wet bar was designed with a more masculine “man cave” style in mind. We wanted to use a lot of wood, leather, and naturally textured surfaces to make the homeowner feel like they were at a winery or nice whiskey bar.

Wood beams on the ceiling add depth and dimension to this game room design.

The primary bedroom bed is a stylish four poster bed made out of reclaimed wood and metal accents. To tie in with the industrial undertone, the bed was flanked with hammered metal night stands that provide a lot of usable storage.

An inviting sitting area was placed at the foot of the bed to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea as the homeowners enjoyed the slower pace of lake-life mornings. It’s also a great place to wine down at the end of the day.

Farmhouse accessories are a refreshing juxtaposition with the reflective top of the small coffee table in the master bedroom.

This unique two-sided fireplace was designed specifically for this master bedroom retreat. I provides separation between the entertainment side of the bedroom and the relaxing retreat on the opposite side while providing warmth during the winter months to both areas.

The left side of the fireplace is used as a relaxing sitting area to disconnect from the world and get lost in the view provided by nature while the right side offers a comfortable seating area to watch television.

The seating area of the master bedroom has a pair of swivel chairs that allow the homeowners versatility. They can sit and enjoy the fire or swing around and have a stunning view.

All shutters in the house, including the floor to ceiling windows in this master bedroom’s reading nook, open to fully enjoy the lake view.

Area on opposite side of fireplace to read, relax, and enjoy the view without distractions.

Crisp & Bold Bedroom Suite Design

Originally this space was your traditional early-2000’s bedroom converted into a home office. Imagine cherry wood tones, plush beige carpeting in the bedroom, and green tiled floors, shower, and countertop in the bathroom. Needless to say, this room was in need of an update. With a dedicated home office in another part of the house, there was not a need for this space anymore, so we decided to transform it into a hotel-chic inspired guest bedroom suite.

A chrome four-post upholstered bed was chosen to visually raise the height of the room. Flanking oversized hanging lights bring home that hotel-chic style. The bold colors pop against a crisp white wall and taupe molding.

In order to add warmth to this crisp bedroom design, the trim was painted a warm taupe, gold accents were, and touches of warm jewel tones were layered throughout.

Classic herringbone tile flooring has a high-end custom style with layers of pattern and color around.

Mixing chrome and gold accents created modern interest. Because this bathroom is on the smaller side, a lighter wall colors and bright Carrara marble were chosen to maximize airiness.

Mixing a modern wave ceramic tile with a waterfall of petal-shaped laser cut marble creates a timeless yet whimsical shower design. Bold brushed gold waterfall shower head and hand shower elevate the style perfectly.

A bold teal color was chosen to seamlessly flow with the color scheme in the bedroom and add the unexpected punch of fun in this bathroom.

Edgy polished chrome faucet and modern marble countertops create a cool juxtaposition in style and texture.

Simple brushed gold hardware contrast against the teal bathroom vanity. The circular shape soften the paneled door fronts of the cabinetry.

The colors for this bedroom started with a crisp white, a layering in of saturated jewel tone blues, and finished off with metallic accents. This truly encapsulates the hotel chic ambience.

Balance and scale was artfully played with to create a completely unique and curated look.

A bold turquoise color brings personality into this guest bedroom. The top is glass to keep things feeling light and airy and the bottom has storage to keep those tables, books, and other goodies guests may need during their stay. Custom gold hardware on these turquoise nightstands add a sophisticated tailored element created an understated elegance.

Live house plants bring life, natural color, and texture into every space. It also acts to frame this wonderful piece of modern art.

Guests are surrounded in luxury with stylish elements such as white glass dresser trimmed in chrome. You can see the fantastic elongation of the tile in this photo as well.

The pillows on the bed embrace the maximalist design principal where more is more. We celebrated this in an artful way by combining mixed colors, textures, and sizes.

The shape of the oversized hanging light adds a nice softness to this bedroom suite retreat. Because the shade wraps around the edge of the drum, light is perfectly diffused to avoid harsh direct light to guests.

To finish off this bedroom, we curated artistic designer cocktail table books, added modern sculptural pieces, and custom designed floral.

Spanish Contemporary Desert Home

My clients and I like to call this project “dirt-to-done". Everything in this home was a collaborative effort between the architect, client, and myself. The building process took about 18-months and was a labor of love. From the exterior in, this project has been one of the most wonderful experiences I have enjoyed. Stone pavers lead guests to the front gate of this Modern Spanish Hacienda.

As you walk through the custom designed iron gates, the front interior courtyard greets you warmly.

The front courtyard was designed to remind the homeowner of her family home while growing up in Mexico.

The flowing water transports you to a tranquil place as you enter the home.

As you enter this Portland, Oregon home, the interior design is a mix of traditional antique finds and modern touches.

This kitchen stays true to the Spanish feel of natural wood tones. We used architectural beams to give character to the home. The kitchen remains open to the rest of the home to foster entertainment.

A traditional herringbone laid floor in a concrete grey color balances perfectly with the large arched doors and clean lines of the dining room entertainment area.

Great craftsmanship was used in this interior design through proper scale and balance. Everywhere you look is a delicate dance of traditionally classic design and modern interiors.

A flame stitch pattern on the swivel chairs add interest through texture and color while warm neutral grey on other furnishings act as the perfect backdrop. The natural wood beams and coffee table are a nod to the nature seen all around Oregon.

The living room has a focal wall of Versailles laid natural stone and a curved stucco fireplace with a hand-crafted mantle. Original native art was introduced to give this interior design more authenticity.

Limestone is a traditional material to use for a fireplace surround. The basketweave pattern adds depth, texture, and dimension.

The primary bedroom has easy access to the backyard providing the homeowners with a true indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Hammer metal nightstands juxtapose with the soft tufted fabric of the headboard. Textual and colorful pillows were layered for a touch of fun.

Traditional lighting was chosen for the master bathroom providing directional light for better visibility. Clerestory windows provide fantastic natural light.

Vintage Spanish pendants are paired with a modern free standing bathtub in front of an arched shutter window.

Simple stone tiles are coupled with a glass mosaic waterfall in this large walk-in shower. A custom built in bamboo shower seat adds functionality while allowing smart space solutions.

Spanish inlayed tile console pair perfectly with modern chartreuse nightstands and shaped wood headboard.

Backyard pool oasis under the bright blue skies. The pool is shaped to blend with the flagstone around it. The Spanish tile roof provides a great shaded seating area in the hot Oregon summer sun.

Conversation circle and a wood burning outdoor fire pit provide a cozy ambiance in the evenings.
